About Ian Gray - Professional Photographer

Ian GrayI have been passionate about photography all my life, or since I was eleven when my mum bought me a Kodak Brownie camera. Ever since that time I have lived behind a camera. Photography has been my life and has been good to me offering me many opportunities to be involved in a wide range of different types of photography and imaging and allowed me to travel the world doing something I enjoy.

I was taught in the old school of photography in the dark rooms with film and doing a five year apprenticeship coming away with various qualifications.  I have always enjoyed art and looked at photography as a means of drawing with light. My training and years in photography taught me that the bigger the negative or these days the chip the better the quality of the image, this is why I have always used medium format cameras like Hasselblad, Mamiya, and Rolle. Today I still get a huge kick or buzz from the quality that these cameras can produce and we have carried on with these traditions in our wedding photography and use digital medium format Hasselblad cameras giving me the best quality pictures possible when photographing a wedding. There is a demonstration of the Hasselblad's quality here.

Today I own ICG Visual Imaging Ltd. and have been a photographer for over forty years, in that time I have worked in many different fields of photography from industrial, commercial and aerial to social photography including weddings. This experience was gained working for companies like Kodak as a colour specialist and as a Kodak wedding photographer, Agfa as a photo chemist, Lanier as their world wide colour marketing manager and Xerox as their European Colour director.

Going back a few years wedding photography was generally in a traditional style, it then moved on in style to candid, spontaneous and reportage, today we use all these different styles in what we call a mixed coverage. We use our experience and equipment to capture your day in a professional creative and stylish way. I love taking photographs of a bride and groom and the interaction with all the friends and family. I have lost count of the number of weddings we have had the privilege of attending, but what I can remember is that when I have finished photographing a wedding I often feel like one of the guests who has had a good day out.

Thank you for visiting our web site, please click through the various tabs and take a look at some of the weddings we have covered, and the packages we can offer. If you can’t find what your looking for then either send me an e-mail via the contacts page or give me a call.

Have a great wedding day
